Wrist & Pocket Watches

The first half of this auction is composed of wrist watches, notably a Tudor ‘Monte Carlo’ 7032, over a dozen other Rolex and Tudor examples, a number of Omegas including a SpeedMaster Professional cal.321, a Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox, a unique Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, plus examples by Patek Philippe, Bulgari, Baume & Mercier, IWC, Breitling, and Cartier.

The second half of the auction includes pocket watches featuring American Railroad Grade examples including several Vanguards, two with wind indicators; watches by Patek Philippe and Rolex, a Bulova Phantom, an unusual Swiss watch with Chinese zodiac dial, Elgins, Howards, and a myriad of European makers. Over 35 of the pocket watches in the auction are in gold cases.

The Cabinet of Curiosities including World History and Culture

Canadian Art

Our final Canadian Art auction of 2020 demonstrates Waddington’s ability to find the best works from private collections that are fresh to market. The auction includes an impressive selection of works from the Painters Eleven, including two works by Walter Yarwood, as well as a large and striking Alexandra Luke acquired directly from the artist’s family, available at auction for the first time. George Pepper’s Ottawa River Boathouses is a superb example of the artist’s work, and in excellent condition – a rare, high-quality find also making its debut at auction. Rounding out the auction is a selection of sculpture and other estate gems, including a large canvas by Peter Clapham Sheppard, and two striking winter scenes by Stanley Francis Turner.

Asian Art

Other collectible highlights include a selection of Qing snuff bottles, a continuation of white jade carvings from a Toronto family collection, late Qing and modern Chinese paintings, and three suits of samurai armour.
