Note:
On the accidental death of the animal, the skin was mounted for display at Tuft’s College, Massachusetts, and the skeleton was sent to The U. S. National Museum of Natural History in Washington. Slices of the tusks were sent to various institutions such as the Smithsonian and the British Museum. This decorated example was sent to Mrs. P. T. Barnum.
