Oil on canvas; signed lower left, inscribed and dated Aug. 22nd 1940?? by the artist in pencil to the matboard recto lower right, dedicated: “To Dorothy with my best wishes.”

A black and white photograph of the artist in his studio; signed: “Carl” with a dedication: “To Dorothy and Hatch, in memory of Happy Days” in pen and ink to the mount recto

Gifted from the artist to his friends, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Hutchison, Banff in the late 1930’s and early 1940’s

Note:

J. A. Hutchison was the first park superintendent of Banff National Park. Hutchison and Rungius developed a friendship that lasted for many years. Together, they enjoyed outdoor pursuits when Rungius visited Western Canada from his New York based studio
