Note:

Mercié’s original composition in plaster of David Vainqueur de Goliath was exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1872, where it won a first class medal. The Barbedienne catalogue lists four sizes of this subject, the present lot being an example of the largest.

CONDITION DETAILS

Base has two drilled holes, about 7 mm, one either side of medallion titled ‘David’ (in Hebrew); otherwise in good condition
